Long-term Volunteer Opportunities (1+ year) Reading and Writing tutoring Teach adults how to read or improve their reading skills so they can get a better job, obtain their driver’s license, or pass the GED/HSE exam. English as a Second language tutoring Plan goal centered lessons to prepare students to talk to their child’s teacher, succeed at a job interview, and ask questions at the grocery store. RSVP Community Board member Join our RSVP community board to influence policy and promote senior volunteer engagement in your community. Coaching online learners Coach students through online/asynchronous lessons. Answer their questions and encourage them through their digital literacy and Pre-HSE modules.
Short-term Volunteer Opportunities Citizenship class tutor Help prepare students for the US Citizenship exam. Tutors will teach students history, civics and N-400 (US Government citizenship application) vocabulary to pass their exam. Job Skills class tutor Assist students with goal setting, career planning, job searching, resume writing and interview skills using our 12 week curriculum. GED/HSE tutor Prepare students for the GED/HSE exam in our 12 week program Pre-HSE/GED group tutor Help students improve their reading and math skills so they can transition to a GED/HSE program. Tutors will use a 12 week curriculum to prepare students to transition to an HSE program or tutoring. MLK Day event planning committee member Each year Literacy NJ holds Martin Luther King, Jr. Day events around the state. Assist with planning and organizing the event to promote the values of Dr. King.
One day Volunteer Opportunities US Citizenship mock interviewer Prepare students for the US Citizenship exam by acting as a mock interviewer. Interviewers will ask students civics, history and other exam related questions. Mock job interviewer Prepare students for their job interview. Act as a mock interviewer asking students common job related interview questions. All volunteer activities can be done in-person and remotely.

Generations Family Success Center (a resource service of Legacy Treatment Center) strengthens families and empowers individuals to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to raise healthy and happy children. Our staff helps individuals, couples and children in Burlington County by offering support and assistance to help build healthy relationships and stable lives. Generations Family Success Center offers community assistance, family activities, child and teen programs and community support programs. Do you have a skill or hobby that you are interested in sharing with the community? We are in need of volunteers to lead activities or share their skills. Volunteers are needed to assist with arts and crafts activities, cooking classes, computer skills trainings and family events such as Family Movie Night. People are also needed to join our Parent/Community Advisory Board, which is a group of individuals who bring unique knowledge and skills that complement the programming of Generations Family Success Center. Beverly National Cemetery With the National Cemetery Administration There are many ways to serve your country. Honor and remember the veterans who gave us so much. Here are some of the many ways to volunteer Honor Veterans at Time of Burial -Serve in Military Funeral Honors details -Play live "Taps" at veterans' funerals Staff the Public Information Centers –Greet visitors - Assist veterans and visitors with information about the cemetery -Provide directions around the grounds -Provide administrative support Join the Support Committee -Plan ceremonies for Memorial Day and Veterans Day -Donate helpful items such as golf carts used to transport visitors who need assistance in reaching a gravesite -Recruit volunteers for the cemetery -Coordinate volunteer activities during special events -Raise and lower cemetery flags on national holidays Opportunities are available for all volunteers, individual or group. Evesham Historical Society - In preserving some of the history of Evesham, the Evesham Historical Society continues to maintain the 1772 Inskeep House, privy, an old relocated butcher shop and herb garden. The house is furnished as a museum of local history, including a display of Native American artifacts. Volunteers are welcome to assist with special events, maintenance of the home, marketing, computer assistance, research and grant writing. Battleship New Jersey Memorial & Museum needs volunteer tour guides (18+) for weekend, weekday, and evening events. Tour guides lead individual and group tours, work with veterans and youth groups, chaperone overnight encampments, and serve as guest lecturers throughout the tri-state area. Also, restoration and clerical support opportunities. No previous military experience required.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region located in Cherry Hill, is a social service program for children in Burlington County, who have shown a need for positive development through the help of qualified, interested adults to improve relationships and performance at home, school, and in the community. BB/BS needs volunteers, including seniors, to serve as adult role models, friends, and mentors. Volunteers are also needed in the office, to assist with educational activities, and/or special events. AARP Tax Counselors and Client Facilitators Program - AARP has a program in Burlington County especially for Seniors so that other low and moderate income persons will be able to have their 2019 taxes done for free by certified Tax Counselors. We are looking for volunteer Tax Counselors and Client Facilitators. Training is provided. There are ten sites located around the County. The sites will be open from February 1st until April 15th. Information on the location of the sites can be found on the AARP home page site, the Office On Aging, and most county libraries and local newspapers.
