Wharton State Forest - New Jersey's largest state forest offers volunteer opportunities for many interests. Pick your hours, days, and interest. Historic interpretation, gardening, research, trail maintenance, etc. The choices are endless. We need assistance with special events, Batsto Historic village, and many other things. Volunteers of all ages can be accommodated, if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Service projects, internships, school projects, and scout projects are also accommodated. Whitesbog Preservation Trust of Historic Whitesbog Village in Brendan T. Byrne State Forest sponsors seasonal special events and educational programs to introduce the general public to the history of the berry industry and vanishing culture of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Volunteers (kids, teens, and adults) are needed for many interesting assignments including seasonal tours, fundraising, and other project work. Volunteer Workdays are held every month on the first Saturday from 10 am - 3 pm and lunch is provided. Groups, office team building and scout projects are all welcome. Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge
Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge sits on 171 wooded acres on the edge of the New Jersey Pinelands. The Refuge includes the Elizabeth Woodford Nature Center, an outdoor housing area with more than 60 native residents, and a wildlife rehabilitation hospital that rehabilitates orphaned and injured wildlife for release. The overall mission of the Refuge is to serve as a community resource on the importance of protecting and enhancing healthy ecosystems for all. Volunteers are needed for office work, fundraising, wildlife rehabilitation, grounds-keeping & maintenance, and educational programs. Opportunities are available for volunteers 16+. Family Success Center of Burlington County (a resource service of Legacy Treatment Center ) strengthens families and empowers individuals to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to raise healthy and happy children. Our staff helps individuals, couples and children in Burlington County by offering support and assistance to help build healthy relationships and stable lives. The Family Success Center offers community assistance, family activities, child and teen programs and community support programs. Volunteers are needed for our Parent Advisory Board, Mentoring Moms/Mentoring Dads Program and Senior Outreach Programs. Also, The Family Success Center of Burlington County needs adult volunteers to mentor parents in Burlington County. You do not have to be a parent to mentor, just patient, kind and a good listener. Mentors meet with a mother or father in their community twice per month to provide encouragement and support. Free training and community activities.
